The Summer Volunteer Slump

With people taking vacation during the summer months, church leaders often deal with being short-staffed when it comes to volunteers.  In this post for The Church Network, I offer four practical ways for church leaders to ensure they have the volunteers needed throughout the summer season.

I wrote this post for Worship Facilities’ audience which includes church staff members responsible for lighting, sound, and other technical solutions.  My goal was to show how they could use a project management process to make system changes less stressful and easier to manage.

Church Project Management

I came into the project management profession somewhat by accident.  My boss asked me to handle a project and I found I enjoyed the process of collaborating with the team, monitoring tasks, solving problems, and more.  I decided to make it official by earning the Project Management Professional certification through the Project Management Institute.  As I started working with churches, I found that the same project management principles that worked in the corporate world could easily be adapted to help church leaders.
